Edinburgh Festival Carnival Announces its programme 10 Jul 2017
The sixth Edinburgh Festival Carnival is limbering up for its biggest – and brightest – year yet!
The parade will begin the festivities on Sunday 16th July, leading 800 Carnival performers from the top of the Mound to the West End of Princes Street in an extravaganza of high-energy music and dazzling costumes!
The Parade running from 2.30pm will disperse into West Princes Street Gardens for an afternoon of live performances. Among the acts participating are
Artscape: dancers from Cape Town, South Africa
Barefeet Theatre: acrobats from Zambia
KalentuRa: drummers and dancers from Holland
Edinburgh Samba School: colourful Samba percussion and dance group
A samba explosion from Samba Resille (France)
Chinese Dragon and Lion: Edinburgh Chinese Community
Pep-Circus from France
Dance Groups from Spain and Beijing
Bombrando: pipes and drums from Portugal
Young Edinburgh based samba group: Pulse of the Place
The Carnival runs from 2.30pm until 5pm on Sunday 16th July

And it’s not just for spectators! The people of Edinburgh are invited to take part in the parade alongside professional musicians, dancers and costumed performers.
