Toine Thys Trio feat Hervé Samb: Groove, rhythm and feel are central to this saxophone-organ-drums band, but especilally with guest guitarist, Samb, the classsic soul-blues sound that you’d expect is lifted into a new contemporary world: expect intoxicating melodies; multi-cultural influences,and brilliant soloing. Saxophonist Thys is joined by Senegalese guitarist Hervé Samb (Youssou N'Dour, Lisa Simone & Salif Keïta).
Trumpeter Colin Steele writes the contemporary anthems of a sophisticated Scotland. His music is a joyous celebration of melody and rhythm, liberated and enhanced by the spirit, refinement and technique of jazz. His ear-catching melodies and sumptuous Celtic-tinged rhythms are “beautifully conceived, mellow and melodic” (The Observer). Here he is with his acclaimed quintet.
