Edinburgh Blues Academy will now run online, as a series of 8 Zoom sessions led by Toby Mottershead, Ewan Gibson, Vid Gobac, and other professionals from the Scottish Blues Scene.

Via the platform, they'll lead small groups in masterclasses and instrument led sessions based around history and principles of Blues performance and improvisation, as well as larger group sessions to improve your timekeeping, rhythm, harmony and ear.

Each session will be between 60-90 mins, and run Wednesday from 7pm; following a curriculum of Blues standards and techniques developed by the tutors, and released in the coming days.

History

Started in January 2019, Edinburgh Blues Academy aims to help musicians of all abilities and ages to improve their blues playing! Taking in all its history and styles, with a focus on group performance, the weekly sessions give musicians a great opportunity to play with like minded peers.

The tutors are the leading young musicians on the Edinburgh Blues scene, currently including Toby Mottershead (Black Diamond Express), Vid Gobac and Ewan Gibson, with guests Nicole Smitt, Jed Potts and others.

Open to all ages, with discounts and scholarships available to students and U18’s looking to learn and progress in Blues.

The sessions take place in every Wednesday in St Bride's Centre, Dalry, giving pupils the opportunity to play and perform in the grand auditorium, while still enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the community centre.
